The most recent data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), a common respiratory virus, is increasing in the US.

According to the CDC, RSV often causes minor, cold-like symptoms but can be deadly for some newborns and young children.

The surveillance data gathered by the CDC reported an increase in RSV cases across the country in recent weeks, with cases detected by PCR tests more than tripling over the previous two months.

In 75 counties or around 9% of the US population, data are collected by the CDCs monitoring program, which confirms RSV cases among children in the US are now on the rise in an "unprecedented" way.
